Meet Your Trainer

John Hinkle, MS, CSCS

John’s career in exercise was sparked back in junior high when he began weight training for the various sports he played.  In college he became interested in bodybuilding and challenged himself by competing in two shows.  His post- college career led him through 5 years of corporate fitness, lecturing on various wellness topics on a national level, assisting fitness equipment companies in product development, and 6 years of personal training at Duke University.

John started Move It Be Fit as a part-time, in-home personal training business back in 1999.  In 2005 he decided to start working full-time on growing his personal training company.  He heavily relies on kettlebell training and joint mobility training when working with his clients.  John did his kettlebell training under the top Senior Certified Russian Kettlebell trainer in the southeast.  He received his Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from West Virginia University and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  He is also R-Phase certified through Z Health Fitness Solutions.

Cathy Dwyer,

Cathy is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with Bachelor’s degrees in Exercise Science and Psychology.  She has participated in team sports since grade school and loves staying active and healthy.  She is thrilled to be helping local residents do the same.  After working in the banking industry for almost 4 years, she is back to her true passion of health and fitness.  Cathy joined the Move It Be Fit team in April 2009.  In her spare time she enjoys cooking, painting, local music, and photography.

Brad Calhoun

Brad is a North Carolina native, born and raised in Winston Salem.  In college he studied Religion and turned his focus away from athletics.  During his tenure at Lees McRae, Brad gained close to 50 pounds.  “When I couldn’t look myself in the mirror because I was too ashamed I knew things had to change.”  Brad got back in the weight room and never looked back.  “I found this is where my heart is, I love working out, in the gym it’s you, the weight and your will to work; that’s it.”  After a year of exercise Brad lost the weight that he had gained and was ready to share his story.

Brad moved to Raleigh, NC in January of 2009 to begin his personal training certification through NPTI (National Personal Training Institute), a 6 month course covering 400 hours of book work learning how the body works and responds to exercise and 200 hours of hands on training in a gym setting.  He joined the Move It Be Fit team in August of 2009.
